KARACHI – Following the re-emergence of former Mayor of Karachi Mustafa Kamal and his tell-all press conference in which he decimated the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, the party is holding a joint press conference in which leaders from Karachi and London are responding to allegations hurled at the party and its leadership.
While addressing the press conference, MQM Convener Nadeem Nusrat rejected Kamal’s allegations and said Altaf cares for his supporters. He said that instead of talking to others, the establishment should speak to Altaf.
Nusrat said, it is surprising that while MQM leaders are running around securing bails to avoid being put behind bars, those who fall out with the MQM are washed in a special laundry and put before the media to hurl allegations against the party and its leader.
Nusrat dismissed all the allegations and appealed to the people to not believe any of the allegations hurled at Altaf. He stressed that Altaf is not alone and the entire Rabita Committee is standing by his side.
Nusrat said that Altaf Hussain has worked tirelessly for the party and the nation. This is not the first time that the party has been targeted as it has been victimised in the past also.
People who do not have public mandate are projected the way Mustafa Kamal and Anis Qaimkhani are being projected today, he said. Innocent masses of Pakistan have been humiliated through allegations today, he said. However, MQM is not concerned about the allegations being hurled at MQM and its top leadership, he said.
“Was making telephone operators Nazim and MPA a mistake?” Nusrat questioned, referring to Mustafa Kamal and Qaimkhani. “Today we are stronger than before,” he said before handing over the command of the press conference to the Karachi Rabita Committee members.
