RAWALPINDI – Minister for Interior Nisar Ali Khan stated on Saturday that he was ready to investigate on Panama Papers leaks through the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
“We cannot allow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to hold rally at D-Chowk or F-9 Park. Islamabad cannot be sealed on daily basis,” he said, speaking to journalists in Kallar Syedan. The statement comes after the PTI announced to hold a rally on the occasion of the party’s 20th foundation day on April 24th at F-9 Park in Islamabad.
– Panama Leaks –
Nisar Ali Khan asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan if he wanted Panama leaks to be probed by FIA, he should name any FIA official of his choice to make him inquiry officer. The PTI chairman had demanded the government to form a high-powered commission led by serving chief justice and comprising the forensic experts in probing white-collar crimes.
Imran Khan has also threatened to move Raiwand if transparent inquiry is not ensured. “I will go straight to Raiwind instead of D-Chowk this time around, if transparent inquiry is not ensured,” said Imran on Friday. Nisar said that Britain, Russia and Argentina have rejected Panama leaks allegations, adding that that this matter should now be resolved in Pakistan as well.
– Protest In Islamabad –
“No one will be allowed to hold public rally in the Islamabad,” the minister said. He said that they would consult with the political parties after approval from cabinet over the matter of public rallies in Islamabad. The PTI has announced to hold its founding day rally on April 24. The party had changed its venue from D-Chowk to F/9 park.
“Now series of allegations and protests be ended,” he said.
– Imran Khan to address on PTV –
Commenting on Imran Khan’s announcement to address nation via state run-channel PTV, Nisar said only the president and the prime minister can address the nation on state TV. “Even, I am interior minister but can’t address nation via State TV.” He said that media covers Imran Khan more than the prime minister. He asserted that Imran will not be allowed to address nation on PTV.
